As we prepare to leave home...

In just a few days the choir and I will depart from St. Paul's and the worship space we love tocall home. Our destination is England and  a ten day singing tour. We are in the midst of the final stages of preparations: final rehearsals, a recording session for a CD to be released on September 26, packing and caring for ourselves so we maintain good health in anticipation of beautiful singing and worship. Before departing, a special Bon Voyage Concert will take place at St. Paul's, 228 South Pitt Street in Alexandria at 3:00 PM. Donations will be accepted at the door to further the ministry of music at the church through our St. Paul's Saints and Singers.

And so, Bon Voyage it will be when we depart from Dulles airport the evening of June 18! On June  20 we will sing A Service of Choral Evensong in Bristol Cathedral [http://www.bristol-cathedral.co.uk/index.php?id=24.]   A full length concert at the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin in Oxford will take place on June 22. [http://www.university-church.ox.ac.uk/news_and_events/concerts.htm]. A 12:30 PM concert on June 24 at Canterbury Cathedral [http://www.canterbury-cathedral.org/events/choirs.aspx] and 12:45 PM on June 26th at St. Paul's Cathedral, London[http://www.usembassy.org.uk/culture/index.html] round out our daytime concerts. Our tour will conclude with singing a service at St. James' Church, Piccadilly on July 28. It is said that this is the church building designed by Christopher Wren in the late 17th century that inspired Benjamin Latrobe and his design of our St. Paul's. Check back often and follow us as we follow in the centuries old steps of pilgrims long forgotten and not so forgotten as we, too, discover the roots of our Anglican faith.
